A nationwide joint operation by law enforcement agencies will be launched soon to recover illegal weapons and prevent disruptions ahead of the upcoming elections, Election Commissioner (EC) Brigadier General (Retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah has announced.

Delivering a clear message, he warned: "No one will be allowed to engage in terrorist activities or disrupt the electoral process."

EC Sanaullah made these remarks during a law and order briefing held at the Election Commission Auditorium in Dhaka on Sunday, in preparation for the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections and accompanying referendum.

"I will show no leniency towards those who seek to commit violence, harm others, or sabotage the elections," he stated. "Instructions have been issued to law and order forces accordingly. Those who act against the nation's interests will face consequences."

The commissioner emphasised that the Election Commission has directed measures to safeguard the electoral environment. "A coordinated joint operation will commence at the field level shortly, focusing on seizing and detaining illegal arms," he added.

He also assured that police are providing security to candidates from various political parties to ensure a fair and peaceful process.
