St Martin's bound ship catches fire

A fire erupted on a tourist vessel bound for St Martin’s Island in the Bakkhali River in Cox's Bazar on Saturday morning, December 27.

The ship, The Atlantic Cruise, caught fire as it was heading towards Nunia Chara BIWTA ghat in the town around 7:00 am.

Hossain Islam Bahadur, general secretary of St Martin's tourist vessel owners' association, the Sea Cruise Operators Owners Association of Bangladesh, confirmed the matter to Jago News.

Efforts are underway to douse the blaze, and no casualties were reported so far, he said.

The fire destroyed the vessel completely; however, no tourist boarded it before the fire broke out, said Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Tanjila Tasnim.
