Main accused in Hadi murder flees to India, 2 arrested there: DMP
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has admitted that the main accused involved in the killing of Inqilab Mancho spokesperson Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi have fled to India. Meanwhile, two individuals who assisted in the incident have been arrested by Meghalaya police in India.
These details were shared on Sunday (28 December) at a press conference held at the DMP Media Centre by SNM Nazrul Islam, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Earlier, DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali stated that the names and addresses of all those involved in the killing of Osman Hadi would be made public. He made the remarks on Saturday (27 December) during Inqilab Mancho’s sit-in programme at Shahbagh in Dhaka.
The DMP Commissioner described the incident as a mysterious murder involving multiple individuals. “So far, we have arrested ten people. We are making every effort to identify everyone behind the killing and will disclose the names and addresses of all involved,” he said.
He added that the two pistols used in Hadi’s shooting have been recovered and sent to the CID for forensic examination. The motorcycle used in the incident has also been recovered by the DB Police.
Notably, Osman Hadi was shot by assailants in broad daylight on 12 December in the Bijoynagar area of Dhaka. He succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Singapore on 18 December. The incident sparked widespread public outrage across the country.
