Khaleda’s funeral: Roads to be closed from 7am Wednesday
Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's funeral will be held at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital on Wednesday, December 31, after Zohr prayers.
On this occasion, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued traffic control and special traffic instructions on various roads in the capital Dhaka.
Since a large number of people are likely to gather for the funeral, the DMP has issued a special public notice to ensure smooth traffic management and security. In the public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sazzat Ali on Tuesday (December 30), all-out cooperation of the city residents has been sought to follow these instructions. Diversions will be in effect in designated areas from 7 am until the funeral is over.
Vehicle movement restrictions
1. Exiting the Indira Road ramp of the elevated expressway will be closed; instead, it is advised to use the FDC ramp.
2. Traffic movement from Sonargaon intersection towards Farmgate or Bijoy Sarani will be limited.
3. It is requested to avoid Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue road as much as possible.
4. Limited vehicle movement will be allowed from the Chief Advisor's Office Crossing to South Bijoy Sarani/Farmgate.
5. Vehicles going from Banani-Mohakali-Gulshan or Airport Road to Ramna-Shahbag-Motijheel-Paltan-Gulistan have been asked to avoid the Mohakhali-Jahangir Gate-Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue road and use the road in front of Mohakhali Bus Terminal and the Moghbazar flyover.
6. Vehicles going from Mirpur area to Dhanmondi-Mohammadpur are requested to avoid Manik Mia Avenue and its surrounding areas and use Mirpur-Technical-Shamoli Rang Road.
7. Vehicles going from Mirpur area to Ramna-Motijheel will take a left turn from Shyamoli on Mirpur Road, pass Agargaon Crossing, pass Fakruddin Road/Link Road and pass Jahangirgate-Mohakhali-Tejgaon-Moghbazar Flyover.
8. Vehicle movement will be restricted from Panthapath Crossing towards Sonargaon Hotel Crossing.
9. Vehicle diversion will be made from Dhanmondi No. 32 Crossing and, if necessary, Science Lab Crossing.
10. Limited vehicles will be allowed to ply southwards from the Chief Advisor's Office Crossing.

a. Farmgate Police Box Crossing
b. Farmgate Indira Road Crossing
C. Bijoy Sarani Crossing
D. Urojahaj Crossing
E. Asadgate Crossing
F. Rapa Plaza Crossing
G. Ganabhaban Crossing
That is, from Rapa Plaza to Ganabhaban Crossing, from Farmgate to Manik Mia Avenue West/Arang, from Bijoy Sarani Crossing to Lake Road to Ganabhaban Crossing and from Urojahaj Crossing to Khezur Bagan Crossing to Farmgate Police Box, the road will be closed.
Places where vehicles can be parked—
1. Vehicles of Dhaka Metropolitan City will have to be parked at the Old Trade Fair Grounds.
2. Parking for buses and other vehicles coming from outside Dhaka will be required in Motijheel commercial area, Shahbagh police station area, Boubazar/Gorur Hat area of Uttara Sector 17 and service road of Purbachal Expressway.
