Govt bars Bishwa Ijtema gatherings before election
The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed that no ijtema or any other gatherings be held at the Tongi Biswa Ijtema ground ahead of the 13th Parliamentary Election and the referendum.
The directive was issued through an official letter to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on Tuesday, December 30.
Earlier, a faction of the Tabligh Jamaat, led by Maulana Muhammad Zubair, Khatib and Principal of Madrasah Ulumi Deenia Malwalia Mosque and a member of the Tabligh Jamaat’s Ahl-e-Shura, had applied to hold khurujer jor from January 2 to 4 and Biswa Ijtema 2026 from January 22 to 24 at the ground.
Citing the need for a smooth, peaceful, and uninterrupted election process, the Home Ministry has instructed authorities to prevent any gatherings at the venue during the pre-election period. The directive emphasizes maintaining law and order, public safety, and administrative preparedness.
Police and relevant authorities have been asked to take necessary measures and ensure full compliance.
