JaPa postpones 40th anniversary events over Khaleda’s death

In the wake of the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, the Jatiya Party (JaPa) has postponed all activities planned for its 40th founding anniversary.

JaPa Chairman’s Press Secretary Shaurya Dipto Surya confirmed the matter on Wednesday, December 31.

He said that all nationwide anniversary programmes scheduled for Thursday, January 1, have been called off out of respect for Khaleda Zia. The decision was made following the directive of the party Chairman Golam Mohammad (GM) Quader.

The government has announced state mourning from Wednesday to Friday and declared a general holiday across the country.

Khaleda Zia passed away on Tuesday morning, December 30, after 37 days of treatment at Evercare Hospital, where she was admitted on November 23.
