Gold, cash looted from jewellery shop in Joypurhat

Robbers looted 35 bhori of gold and Tk 6 lakh from Mandal Jewellers, a jewellery shop in Panchbibi municipality, Joypurhat in the early hours of Saturday, January 3. 

According to the shop owner, Nur Islam, several men arrived in a microbus, tied up the night guard, and broke the shop’s lock to gain entry at around 4:00 am.

Later, they forced open the safe and fled with the valuables.

Confirming the matter, Panchbibi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Hafiz Md. Raihan said that police have been deployed to the scene. 

An investigation into the incident was underway to identify and apprehend the suspects, the OC said, adding that legal action would be taken against those found involved.
