After four-university sweep, Shibir-backed panel wins JnUCSU
Following landslide victories in student union elections at Dhaka University and three other public universities, the Islami Chhatra Shibir–backed Odommo Jobian Oikya panel has secured another sweeping victory in the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (JnUCSU) elections.
In the JnUCSU polls, the panel’s candidate, Riazul Islam, was elected vice-president (VP) with 5,558 votes. His nearest rival, AKM Rakib, backed by Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Odhikar Parishad, received 4,688 votes, giving Riazul Islam a winning margin of 870 votes.
The Election Commission announced that results from all 39 polling centres in the JnUCSU elections have now been released. Candidates from the Shibir-backed panel also won several key positions, including General Secretary (GS) and Assistant General Secretary (AGS).

According to the Election Commission, the voting and counting process was conducted transparently. Despite technical glitches and delays, results were determined using a combination of OMR machines and manual counting, with representatives from all sides present.
Following the announcement, mixed reactions were observed on campus. While supporters of the winning panel celebrated, many supporters of the defeated sides remained silent.
