E-bail bond system launched in 8 more districts
The government has expanded the e-bail bond (E-Bail Bond Management System) to eight more districts to reduce delays and public suffering in the judicial process, replacing the conventional paper-based bail bond system.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul inaugurated the system through a virtual ceremony from the Secretariat on Wednesday, January 21, connecting simultaneously with the newly included districts.
The system has been launched in Manikganj, Bandarban, Meherpur, Joypurhat, Moulvibazar, Panchagarh, Jhalokathi and Sherpur.
Inaugurating the system, Dr Asif Nazrul said it was initially introduced on a pilot basis in Narayanganj on October 15 last year and has since been operating successfully. “Based on that success, the software has been further upgraded and expanded to more districts,” he said.
Officials said that the digital platform will make the bail bond submission process faster, more transparent and efficient, significantly reducing time and costs for litigants, lawyers, prison authorities and other stakeholders.
