Govt committed to free, fair elections: Asif Nazrul
Law Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul has said that the interim government has successfully organised a free and fair election after 17 years.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists at the Circuit House in Madaripur on Saturday.
Asif Nazrul said that there is strong enthusiasm among voters, and the government is determined to ensure that the polls are conducted smoothly.
He said the district administration and police are fully prepared. “This is a significant election since Bangladesh’s independence. It has two key features, postal voting and, for the first time, expatriates will be able to exercise their voting rights. The general vote is also underway,” he said.
“Strengthening democracy and the rule of law in Bangladesh is essential, and voting ‘Yes’ is crucial to achieving that goal,” he added.
Among others, Madaripur District and Sessions Court Judge Rokonuzzaman, Madaripur Deputy Commissioner Md Jahangir Alam, Superintendent of Police Md Ehteshamul Haq, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Al Noman, and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Wadiah Shabab, were present on the occasion.
