Ban on motorbike for 3 days during elections
The Election Commission (EC) has imposed a ban on motorcycle movement for three days – national election day, and before and after poll day – and on four other types of vehicles on voting day.
The ban on motorcycle movement will remain in force from February 10 midnight to February 13 midnight, and the same on taxi cab, pickup van, microbus, and truck from February 11 midnight to February 12 midnight in election areas across the country.
The Commission, in a letter issued on Tuesday, January 27, requested the Road Transport and Highways Division to implement the directions.
However, candidates, law enforcement agencies, armed forces, administration, polling agents, election observers, and journalists can use those vehicles during the period.
