Nayapaltan child torture: School manager on 4-day remand
Pabitra Kumar Barua, an accused in a case over the torture of a four-year-old child at a kindergarten in Dhaka's Nayapaltan, has been placed on a four-day remand.
Dhaka's Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah passed the order after a hearing on Tuesday, January 27.
Earlier on January 23, the police arrested Pabitra Kumar, the manager of Sharmin Academy, in the capital's Mirpur area.

Two teachers allegedly tortured a pre-play student at Sharmin Academy in Nayapaltan on January 18.
The following day, the child's mother filed a case with Paltan police station in this connection, naming the two teachers – Sharmin Jahan, the founding principal of the academy, and manager Pabitra Kumar Barua, both husband and wife – as accused.
