Garment workers block Airport–Mohakhali road, demand due benefits

A group of garment workers blocked the outgoing lane of the Airport–Mohakhali route in the capital on Friday, demanding payment of their pending service benefits. The workers, employed at Masud Apparels Limited in the Chairman Bari area of Banani, began their sit-in around 11:45 am.

The protest brought all vehicular movement on the route to a standstill, causing severe traffic congestion in the surrounding areas and creating difficulties for drivers and passengers. Police arrived at the scene after receiving reports and are attempting to control the situation.

Ziaur Rahman Zia, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Traffic for the Gulshan Division, advised commuters to use alternative routes to avoid traffic jams. He also suggested that those traveling urgently allow extra time for their journeys.
