Gold prices rise again in domestic market
Gold prices have increased in the domestic market, with the price of the highest-quality 22-carat gold rising by Tk 5,424 per bhori (11.664 grams), bringing the cost of one bhori to Tk 251,184.
The price hike follows an increase in the price of refined gold (tejabi sona) in the local market. The new rates will come into effect from 10:30 am on Tuesday (February 3), according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).
The decision was made during a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring held on Tuesday (February 3). The information was later confirmed in a notification signed by the committee’s chairman, Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.
Earlier on Monday, gold prices were reduced three times in a single day. In the first phase, prices fell by Tk 1,925, followed by a second reduction of Tk 6,590 and a third cut of Tk 5,424. As a result, the price of one bhori of 22-carat gold dropped by a total of Tk 13,939 in a single day. Following those reductions, prices have now increased again.
Under the new rates, the price of 21-carat gold has risen by Tk 5,191 to Tk 239,754 per bhori. Similarly, 18-carat gold has gone up by Tk 4,433 to Tk 205,520 per bhori, while traditionally-made gold has increased by Tk 3,674 to Tk 168,195 per bhori.
