DMP identifies 37 Dhaka polling centres as risky
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has identified 37 polling centres in Dhaka city as risky and said body cameras will be deployed at these centres.
DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali made the remarks during a press briefing on Monday (February 9) at the DMP Media Centre on the “Security Plan Implemented by DMP for Election and Referendum.”
He stated that there are 1,614 important polling centres in Dhaka. Four police personnel will be deployed at each of these centres, while three members will be posted at 517 general polling centres.
Referring to the 37 risky centres, the DMP commissioner said, “At these 37 centres, seven police members will be deployed at each location. In addition, body cameras will be used.”
He added that 25,000 DMP personnel have received training for election duties. The DMP Special Reserve Force, Bomb Disposal Unit, and Dog Squad will also be deployed to handle any situation.
The briefing was attended by Additional Police Commissioner (Admin) Sarwar and Additional Police Commissioner SM Nazrul Islam.
