CEC to address nation on polls this evening
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin will address the nation on Wednesday evening regarding the 13th national parliamentary elections and the upcoming referendum.
The Election Commission (EC) confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday (February 10). According to the EC, the CEC’s speech was recorded on Tuesday evening and will be broadcast simultaneously today on Bangladesh Television (BTV), Bangladesh Betar, and all private television channels and radio stations across the country.
Earlier, in a speech to the nation on December 11 last year, the CEC had announced the election schedule.
Sources say that in today’s address, the CEC will provide updates on overall election preparations and urge voters to exercise their franchise at polling centres without fear. He will also discuss the distribution of election materials nationwide and the security arrangements at 42,659 polling stations.
The speech is expected to highlight the deployment of 958,000 law enforcement personnel, the installation of CCTV cameras at polling centres, and drone surveillance to ensure a smooth voting process. At the same time, the CEC will reaffirm the commission’s firm commitment to conducting free, fair, and participatory elections.
