2 die as bus hits auto-rickshaw and falls into ditch

Two people were killed and at least seven others injured as a bus hit an auto-rickshaw and fell into a roadside ditch in Cumilla's Daudkandi on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway on Sunday afternoon, February 15.

The deceased were identified as Faruque, 42, the auto-rickshaw driver, and Mijanur Rahman, 35, a passenger of the bus.

Daudkandi highway police station's officer-in-charge, Md Iqbal Bahar, confirmed the matter to Jago News.

Witnesses said an Econo Paribahan bus rammed an auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction and plunged into a trench in Jinglatala area around 2:50 pm, leaving the auto-rickshaw driver and a passenger of the bus dead on the spot and seven others injured.

The injured were rushed to a local hospital, and of them, three were sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.
