Road accidents claim 487 lives in January: Report
As many as 487 people have been killed and 1,194 injured in 559 road accidents across the country in January this year.
Only motorcycle accidents claimed 196 lives, which is around 40.24 per cent of the total fatalities, the Road Safety Foundation (RSF) said in a report on Thursday, February 19.
Of the deceased, 68 were women and 57 children, the report said.
Apart from roads, 32 individuals have been killed in 41 railway accidents, and six in waterways in the month.
The organisation, RSF, prepared the report based on data compiled from nine national dailies, seven online news portals, various electronic media and its own information.
