The 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) is likely to go into its first session between March 10 and 12, said Home Minister and BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed.

The first session of the new parliament may begin on March 12 or two to three days earlier, he told the media on Saturday night, February 21.

The speaker and deputy speaker will be elected in the session, he added.

According to the Constitution, the President must convene the first session of the new parliament within 30 days of the publication of the gazette of the national election results.

The 13th parliamentary election was held on February 12, and the following day, the gazette on the elected members of parliament (MPs) was published. Accordingly, there is an obligation to hold the first JS session by March 14.
