Police detained six people, including five women, from in front of the Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's residence at Gulshan in Dhaka on Saturday night.

The arrested were identified as Khoda Box, 26, of Sunamganj district, Khaidza Begum, 40, of Badda,  Khadiza Begum,35,  of Mogbazar, Shaheda Begum, 48, of Karail slum, and Rina Akter, 48, of Tongi.

Confirming the matter, Gulshan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rakibul Islam said that the detainees were reportedly seeking financial assistance when security personnel asked them to leave the premises.

They refused to comply, prompting law enforcement members to take them into custody for questioning.

The OC described them as beggars by profession who had gathered outside the residence to seek assistance from the Prime Minister.

The individuals were provided with iftar at the station, and further meals would be arranged if necessary, the OC said, adding that they would be handed over to their respective families.
