Govt cancels contractual appointments of 9 secretaries
The government has cancelled the contractual appointments of nine senior secretaries and secretaries.
A notification in this regard was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday (23 February).
Among the senior secretaries whose contractual appointments were cancelled are Planning Commission members Md Mokhlesur Rahman and MA Akmal Hossain Azad; Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Mumtaz Ahmed; Director General of the National Academy for Planning and Development (NAPD) Siddiq Zobayer; and Chairman of the Land Appeal Board Mohammad Yusuf.
The contractual appointment of Sharifa Khan, Alternate Executive Director at the World Bank, was also cancelled. She most recently served as Senior Secretary of the Economic Relations Division.
The secretaries whose appointments were cancelled include Secretary of the Health Services Division Md Saidur Rahman; Secretary of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Shish Haider Chowdhury; and Planning Commission member Kaiyum Ara Begum.
Earlier on Monday, separate notifications were issued by the Ministry of Public Administration removing the secretaries of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Secondary and Higher Education Division, and the Prime Minister’s Office.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) formed the government on 17 February after securing more than a two-thirds majority in the 13th National Parliamentary Election. Since then, changes have been introduced across various sectors of the administration.
