4 burnt in Cumilla gas cylinder blast
Four members of a family, including a woman and a toddler, sustained burn injuries following a gas cylinder explosion in Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla early Tuesday, February 24.
The injured were identified as Monowara Begum, 60, Zilhak, 37, Umme Humayra, 30, and Hurram, 2.
The incident occurred in in the upazila around 6:00 am.
The victims were rescued and taken to the emergency department of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.
Confirming the matter, Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon at the institute, said that Monowara sustained 2 per cent burns, Zilhak 54 per cent, Umme Humayra 65 per cent, and Hurram 6 per cent.
Two of the victims are in critical condition and have been admitted for treatment, while the others are under observation, he added.
