3 burnt in Chandpur gas line leak explosion
Three people sustained burn injuries in an explosion caused by a gas line leak in Kachua upazila of Chandpur on Wednesday morning, February 25.
The injured were identified as Khadija Akter, 30, Mahmudul Hasan, 36, and Shiuli Akter, 40.
They were rescued and taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka at around 8:30 am.
Confirming the matter, Assistant Professor Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, residential surgeon at the institute, said Khadija suffered 35 per cent burns, Mahmudul sustained 4 per cent and Shiuli 2 per cent.
Khadija has been admitted to the hospital while the latter two are currently under observation in the emergency department, he added.
In a separate incident in the Halishahar area of Chattogram city, two more victims died from burn injuries caused by a gas explosion at a residence, raising the death toll in that incident to five.
Doctors said the condition of four others injured in the explosion remains critical.
Earlier, four members of the same family, including a woman and a child, were injured in a gas cylinder explosion in Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla. They were rescued in the early hours of Tuesday and also taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for treatment.
