Police conducted a special overnight crackdown against extortionists, juvenile gang members and drug dealers in the Mohammadpur and Adabor areas of the capital, detaining more than 100 individuals.

The operation was carried out from 10:00 pm on Wednesday to 2:00 am on Thursday (February 25) by the Mohammadpur zonal team under the Tejgaon Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). Officials said the drive was launched to ensure public safety during the holy month of Ramadan and to facilitate the peaceful celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The operation was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) of Tejgaon Division Md Ibne Mizan. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jewel Rana, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Abdullah Al Mamun, and the Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of the respective police stations were also present.

DC Ibne Mizan said more than 100 suspects involved in various criminal activities were detained during the joint operation conducted by Mohammadpur and Adabor police stations to curb extortion and snatching incidents.

He added that such drives would continue to suppress crime and ensure public safety.

According to him, regular operations have been intensified to maintain law and order and prevent juvenile gangs, extortionists and snatchers from becoming active again in the area.
