3 of a family burnt in fire from 'gas leak' in Old Dhaka

Three members of a family suffered severe burn injuries after a fire broke out due to a gas leak at their home in Narinda area of Old Dhaka early Friday, February 27.

The injured were identified as Moktar Bepari, 55, Mst Selina Akter, 45, and Mohammad Selim, 33.

They were rescued around 1:00 am and taken to the emergency department of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for treatment.

Confirming the matter, Resident Physician of the institue Assistant Professor Dr Shawon Bin Rahman said that Moktar sustained 22 per cent burns, Selina 20 per cent, and Selim suffered 100 per cent burns. 

They are in critical condition and under close observation, he said.

Earlier, on Wednesday, three people were burned in a gas line explosion in Kachua, Chandpur, and were later brought to the same burn institute for treatment.
