HSIA cancels 54 Middle East flights following strikes on Iran

Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) has canceled 54 flights to Middle Eastern destinations following the closure of airspace over the region after recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran.

The cancellations, which began on Saturday afternoon, February 28, continued through Sunday morning, March 1, as a precautionary measure to ensure passenger safety.

HSIA Executive Director, Air Force Group Captain SM Ragib Samad, confirmed the matter but did not specify when normal flight operations would resume.

Airport sources said nearly 10,000 passengers were affected by 27 flights scheduled on Saturday. The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare has arranged temporary accommodations for stranded travelers, while many others returned to their hometowns.

Airlines have committed to notifying passengers by phone once flight schedules are restored.
