UK seeks closer ties with Bangladesh’s new government

The United Kingdom (UK) has expressed a strong interest in working closely with Bangladesh’s new government to enhance bilateral cooperation.

British High Commissioner to Dhaka Sarah Cook made the remarks after a courtesy meeting with Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman and State Minister Shama Obaed on Tuesday, March  3.

Highlighting the depth and strength of the UK-Bangladesh partnership, the high commissioner reiterated the desire to strengthen collaboration on shared priorities. 

The meeting focused on economic growth, migration, security, climate change, and the Rohingya issue.

“Bangladesh and the UK share a long-standing relationship. In this new chapter, we are eager to work closely together to advance mutual priorities,” Sarah Cook said, while congratulating the foreign minister on assuming office.
