US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Paul Kapur, held meetings with Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman and State Minister Shama Obaid Islam on Wednesday (March 4) morning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

After the meetings, speaking briefly to reporters, Kapur described the discussions as “extremely fruitful and good.” When asked about the content of the bilateral talks—particularly regarding the defense cooperation agreement ‘ACSA’ (Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement) and the exchange of military confidential information under ‘GSOMIA’ (General Security of Military Information Agreement)—he did not provide specific answers, reiterating only that “the meeting was good” before leaving the ministry.

Kapur arrived at the ministry around 8:45 am and first met with the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, followed by a separate meeting with the Foreign Minister.

Diplomatic sources indicate that the discussions primarily focused on key regional and international issues, including political coordination between the two countries, implementation of trade agreements, the Rohingya crisis, and the current volatile situation in the Middle East.
