PM says ‘let’s go to war’ as he leaves residence for work
Sunday marks the first working day of the week. Like any other workday, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman left his residence in the morning to begin his duties. However, today’s routine took an unusual turn when he made a remark that surprised those present. Opening the door of his residence with a smile, he said to everyone around him, “Let’s go to war.”
When the prime minister uttered these three words, the personal officials present were momentarily taken aback. Soon after, however, they realised that he was referring to the challenges of running the country as a “war.” With the striking three-word remark, he was expressing the daily struggle involved in building and governing the nation.
The prime minister’s Additional Press Secretary, Atikur Rahman Ruman, was beside him at the time, as he is on most days. He said the prime minister left his residence in Gulshan in the capital at 8:42 am, heading to the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat.
Before the prime minister leaves home each day, his personal and security officials remain prepared. As they waited in readiness today, the prime minister opened the door and, with his customary cheerful smile, made the remark.
Ruman added that the prime minister entered the Secretariat at around 9:30 am. Several meetings are scheduled throughout the day, including with Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon, Education Adviser Mahdi Amin, and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury, along with several other engagements.
