Govt fixes monthly honorariums for imam, muezzins

The government will launch a monthly honorarium and training-based welfare programme for mosque imams, muezzins, and Khadems, and staff of other places of worship.
Under the initiative, imams will receive a monthly honorarium of Tk 5,000, muezzins Tk 3,000 and khadems Tk 2,000. Additionally, Tk 8,000 will be allocated to temples, Buddhist temples, and churches, respectively.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the programme on March 14.
Md Ismail Zabiullah, adviser to the prime minister and president of the cell formed to implement the programme, told reporters at the Secretariat on Sunday, March 8.
