A fire broke out on the third floor of an 11-storey commercial building in Mirpur-2 in the capital on Monday afternoon.

The incident took place on the second floor of the LA Plaza around 1:52 pm.

Being informed, firefighting units rushed to the scene soon after receiving the news of the incident, said Fire Service control room duty officer Lima Khanom.

The firefighters were working there to bring the blaze under control.

Meanwhile, Fire Service media cell official Anwarul Islam Dolon said four people have been rescued from the roof of the building.

He added that five to six others were still on the rooftop and efforts were underway to bring them down safely using a turntable ladder (TTL).
