Fire at Mirpur commercial building under control

A fire that broke out on the third floor of an 11-storey commercial building in Mirpur-2 has been brought under control on Monday afternoon afternoon.

Confirming the incident, Talha Bin Jasim, acting officer of the Fire Service media cell, said the fire broke out at the building at around 1:52 pm.

Six units of the firefighters rushed to the scene and brougth the fire under control around 3:22 pm.

During the operation, 23 people trapped inside the building were rescued, including 13 men and 10 women. One woman sustained minor injuries and was taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for treatment, he said.

Firefighters used a turntable ladder (TTL) to safely evacuate all 23 individuals, he said, adding that the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined.
