BPC raises daily fuel limit for ride-share motorcycles to 5 liters
The Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has set a maximum daily limit of 5 liters of octane or petrol for motorcycle ride-share drivers. The rule will apply only in metropolitan areas. Previously, the maximum allowed purchase was 2 liters per day.
The directive was issued on Tuesday (March 10) through a notice signed by BPC Secretary Shahina Sultana.
According to the notice, fuel stations must provide purchase receipts specifying the type, quantity, and price of fuel to ride-share consumers at the time of delivery. Drivers are also required to submit the original copy of their previous purchase receipt each time they collect fuel.
Fuel supply must be verified against the motorcycle’s registration number and the driver’s information linked with ride-sharing apps.
The BPC emphasized that fuel must be purchased and sold at government-fixed prices. Charging extra under the pretext of shortages is considered a legal offense.
The government determines fuel prices at the beginning of each month, and amid the current crisis, no decision has been made to increase prices.
The BPC has called for the cooperation of all consumers and dealers to ensure the smooth supply of fuel nationwide by following these guidelines.
