A Dhaka court on Tuesday, March 10, issued arrest warrants against 22 individuals in a case over the lynching of a mentally challenged youth at Fazlul Haque Hall of Dhaka University, suspecting him of being a thief.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jewel Rana passed the order after accepting a supplementary charge sheet against 28 accused in the case.

According to the case documents, on the night of September 18, some students caught the youth, Tofazzal, at the gate of Fazlul Haque Hall, suspecting him to be a thief. They beat him with stumps, hockey sticks, and rods, leaving him unconscious. He was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he was declared dead.
