Four suffer burns in hotel fire in Khilkhet
Four people suffered burn injuries after a fire broke out on the ground floor of a hotel in Khilkhet in the capital on Friday (March 13). They have been admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
They were rescued and brought to the emergency department of the institute around 7:30 am.
The injured are Mohammad Monsur Ali, 32, Md Abdul Matin, 67, Mohammad Mahi, 17, and Md Abdul Jalil, 67.
Md Imran, a colleague who brought them to the hospital, said the fire broke out due to a short circuit while air-conditioner repair work was being carried out on the ground floor of the hotel in the morning.
Four hotel staff members sustained burn injuries in the incident. They were later rescued and taken to the burn institute.
Resident physician Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, an assistant professor at the institute, said four burn victims from the Khilkhet hotel fire were brought there.
Among them, Monsur sustained 21 per cent burns, Abdul Matin 5 per cent, Mohammad Mahi 5 per cent, and Abdul Jalil 7 per cent.
One of the injured has been admitted, while the other three are under observation.
