PM directs special measures for speedy disposal of rape cases
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has instructed all relevant ministries to take special measures to ensure the swift disposal of rape cases across the country.
The directive came during a Cabinet meeting held at the Cabinet Division on Tuesday, March 17, which the Prime Minister presided over. Following the meeting, Nasimul Gani, Cabinet Secretary, briefed reporters about the decision.
According to the Cabinet Secretary, the government has decided suo moto to launch a coordinated drive across all ministries to expedite both ongoing and pending rape cases.
“The Prime Minister has emphasised the need for urgent action to prevent sexual violence in society,” Nasimul Gani said. “He has ordered that those responsible for handling such cases take all necessary steps to ensure they are resolved as quickly as possible.”
Officials noted that the initiative reflects a broader push by the government to strengthen justice mechanisms and tackle the rising concern over sexual violence in the country.
