Woman dies after tree falls on moving auto-rickshaw in Moulvibazar
A woman died after a roadside tree collapsed onto a moving auto-rickshaw in Moulvibazar's Borolekha upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
The accident occurred around noon in the Barigram area along the Borolekha–Chandgram regional road.
The deceased was identified as Azizun Nesa, 50, wife of Jamir Uddin, a resident of Surikandi village in the district.
Her husband and the vehicle’s driver were critically injured in the incident.
According to locals, Azizun Nesha and her husand Jamir were traveling to Dhaser Bazar when a dead tree suddenly fell onto the auto-rickshaw, leaving them injured on the spot.
Locals rescued the injured and took them to Borolekha Upazila Health Complex where the attending doctors declared Azizun Nesa dead.
Later, her husband and the driver were referred to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital as their health conditions deriorated.
Dr Milad Ahmad, Medical Officer at Borolekha Health Complex, said that the woman died before being taken to the health complex.
Borolekha police station officer-in-charge Md Moniruzzaman Khan said they are investigating the incident.
