Brother hacks cop, snatches away banditry accused
A warranted accused was snatched away from police custody after hacking a cop in Bagerhat Kachua on Wednesday afternoon, March 18.
The injured is Raju Khan, a constable at Kachua police station, while the accused, who was snatched, is Nadim Sheikh, 33.
Nadim is a warranted accused in a banditry case filed in 2024, and apart from this, there are several other allegations, including assault, extortion and grabbing, against him.
Kachua police station's officer-in-charge, Md Shafiqur Rahman, said the police conducted a drive at Nadim's home in Khalishakhali village and arrested him. While taking Nadim to the police station, his younger brother, Sagar Sheikh, hacked a cop with a sharp weapon and snatched him away.
Later, the injured was rushed to Kachua Upazila Health Complex and later, shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital after his condition worsened.
