Govt to cover edu expenses of two sons of expat killed in Saudi
Labour and Employment and Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury has announced that the government will cover the educational expenses of the two sons of Mosharraf Hossain, 30, a Bangladeshi expatriate who was killed in Saudi Arabia amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
He made the remarks during a press briefing in front of Gate No. 8 of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 11:30 am on Friday (March 20).
Earlier, at around 10:50 am, a Saudi Airlines flight (SV-806) carrying Mosharraf’s body landed at the airport. Minister Choudhury visited the airport to offer condolences to the family of the deceased. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed was also present.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of Mosharraf Hossain. Following the directive of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, we have come here to speak with his family members. We stand by our expatriates and will support Mosharraf’s family. The government will bear all expenses for the education of his two sons,” the minister said.
Mosharraf Hossain hailed from Sakhipur in Tangail and was the son of Md Surujat Ali from Kirtonkhola village in the upazila. He was killed on March 8 in an Iranian missile strike on a residential building in Saudi Arabia. The attack, carried out just before iftar, left three people dead, including Mosharraf.
