PM visits parents’ graves, offers fateha
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday visited the graves of his parents after exchanging Eid greetings at the State Guest House Jamuna.
In the afternoon, he went to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar and offered fateha at the graves of his father, former President Ziaur Rahman, and his mother, former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman, daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman, Syeda Shameela Rahman, wife of his late brother Arafat Rahman Koko, her two daughters -Zahia Rahman and Zafia Rahman.
Standing beside the graves with his family members, Tarique Rahman recited Surah Al-Fatiha and offered munajat seeking eternal peace for their souls.
He later placed a wreath at the graves on behalf of BNP as the party’s chairman.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Prof AZM Zahid Hossain, adviser Mahbub Uddin Khokon, publicity secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, State Minister Mir Shahe Alam, the Prime Minister’s Defense adviser ATM Shamsul Islam and other party leaders were present.
The Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon said that after the visit, the Prime Minister returned to his residence in Gulshan with his family members.
