Two probe bodies formed over Cumilla train-bus collision

The railway authorities have formed two separate investigation committees following a train collision with a bus that had driven onto a level crossing in Cumilla.

Both committees have been asked to submit their reports on the cause of the accident within three working days. The information was confirmed by Mostafizur Rahman Bhuiyan, Divisional Manager of the Chattogram Railway Division, at 7:00 am on Sunday (March 22).

Anisur Rahman, Chattogram Divisional Transport Officer, has been appointed head of the six-member divisional investigation committee, while Chief Operating Superintendent (East) Mohammad Shafiqul Rahman will lead the six-member zonal committee.

Other members of the divisional committee include Divisional Engineer-1 Abu Rafi Mohammad Imtiaz Hossain, Divisional Mechanical Engineer (Locomotive) Md Rezwan-ul-Islam, Divisional Signal and Telecommunication Engineer Md Ashikur Rahman, Divisional Medical Officer Dr Tahmina Yasmin, and Commandant RNB Md Shahid Ullah.

The zonal committee members include Chief Engineer (East) Md Tanvirul Islam, Chief Mechanical Engineer (East) Sadekur Rahman, Chief Signal and Telecom Engineer (East) Tarek Mohammad Shams Tushar, Chief Medical Officer (East) Dr Ibne Safi Abdul Ahad, and Chief Commandant RNB (East) Md Jahirul Islam.

Mostafizur Rahman Bhuiyan said both committees have been asked to submit their reports within three working days, after which necessary measures will be taken.
