Four killed as bus, pickup van collide in Habiganj

Four people were killed in a collision between a bus and a pickup van in Madhabpur upazila, Habiganj. The accident occurred on Sunday morning (22 March) on the Dhaka–Sylhet Highway in the Andiura area.

Police and fire service personnel rushed to the scene after receiving the news and recovered the bodies, which were taken to the local police station.

Confirming the incident, Sohel Rana, Officer-in-Charge of Madhabpur Police Station, said all the deceased were passengers in the pickup van. Their identities have not yet been confirmed, and efforts are underway to identify them.

According to police and local sources, the collision occurred early in the morning, causing the pickup van to overturn and fall into a ditch beside the highway. Around 9:00 am, locals spotted the overturned van and informed the Madhabpur police and fire service. Authorities then recovered four bodies trapped under the vehicle.

Earlier on Sunday, at least 12 people were killed and around 20 others injured after a mail train collided with a bus that had entered a level crossing in Cumilla.
