Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “We will reach heaven through work, worship, and earning halal income, all while being honest. Unlike others, we do not sell religion to sell tickets to heaven.”

He made the remarks on Monday (March 23) at 11:00 am while delivering a speech as the chief guest at the inauguration of the Neha River dredging project in Raipur Union of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila.

Addressing officials from the Water Development Board and other government departments, the minister emphasised that the canal dredging work must be carried out properly to ensure public satisfaction. “Ensure that no complaints arise. People should not say that only the inauguration took place, but no actual work was done afterward. That must not happen,” he said.

He added that steps have already been taken to implement the election manifesto announced earlier. “Alongside family cards and canal dredging, agricultural cards will also be distributed. Development of farmers is key to the development of Bangladesh,” he noted.

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Ishrat Farzana, with State Minister for Water Resources Farhad Hossain Azad attending as a special guest. Government officials, political leaders, and local residents were also present.
