Tarique inspects ministries on first working day after Eid
The quiet return to work after Eid took an unexpected turn on Sunday, as Prime Minister Tarique Rahman chose not to begin his day behind a desk – but on foot, moving through the very corridors that keep the government running.
Instead of heading straight to his office at the Cabinet Division, the prime minister made an unannounced stop at Building 6 of the Bangladesh Secretariat, a hub housing several key ministries.
What followed was an unannounced walk through the machinery of government.
Without prior notice, the prime minister moved through offices in the power and energy division, women and children affairs, health, and public works. Officers and staff looked on in surprise as he stopped to exchange greetings, ask about working conditions, and observe daily operations up close.
He did not limit himself to formal spaces. Even staff pantries were not off-limits – an unusual detail that quickly became part of the day’s buzz.
The visit created a stir across the ministries. Many officials said they had never seen such direct, unscripted engagement from the head of government. Some welcomed it as a sign of active oversight, while others were simply caught off guard.
After the tour, the prime minister returned to his office and resumed routine work. He was accompanied by Nasimul Ghani, Additional Press Secretary, Atiqur Rahman Rumon, and other officials.
