The Election Commission has announced the schedule for voting in the 50 reserved women’s seats of the 13th National Parliament.

According to the schedule, nomination papers can be submitted to the Returning Officer at the Election Commission Secretariat by April 21. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on April 22 and 23, the last date for withdrawal is April 29, and voting will be held on May 12.

The schedule was announced on Wednesday (April 8) at the Election Commission office in Agargaon by Senior Secretary of the Election Commission, Akhtar Ahmed.

Joint Secretary Md Moin Uddin Khan will serve as the Returning Officer for the election, while Deputy Secretary Mohammad Monir Hossain has been appointed as Assistant Returning Officer.

Members of Parliament elected from general seats will cast votes for the reserved women’s seats. In many cases, candidates are elected unopposed, making voting unnecessary.

Under the current law, the 50 reserved women’s seats are allocated to parties in proportion to the number of seats they won in the general election. The BNP-led alliance will receive 36 seats, the Jamaat-led alliance 13 seats, and independents one seat.
