14 children hospitalised with measles symptoms in Tangail

At least 14 children with measles-like symptoms were admitted to different hospitals in Tangail district over the past 24 hours, as the number of infections continues to rise.

According to the District Civil Surgeon’s Office, a total of 194 patients have so far been hospitalised with measles symptoms in the district. Currently, 56 patients are receiving treatment at various hospitals.

Officials said that during the latest 24-hour period, 4 children were admitted to Tangail Medical College Hospital, 7 to Kumudini Hospital, and 3 to Tangail General Hospital. In the same period, 23 patients recovered and were discharged.

So far, three children have died at Tangail General Hospital and Kumudini Hospital due to complications related to measles-like symptoms.

Confirming the matter, Tangail General Hospital Superintendent Khondoker Sadikur Rahman said an isolation ward has been set up for children affected by the disease. 

“We are providing necessary treatment to all admitted patients,” he said.
