38 BNP men including Nabi acquitted, 1 jailed in sabotage case

A court in Dhaka has acquitted 38 BNP men, including its Dhaka South City acting convener Nabiullah Nabi, and sentenced a man to three years in jail in a sabotage case.

Other accused who were acquitted include Shahadat Hossain, Saiful Islam, Al Mamun Panna, Shamim, Mohammad Ali, Md Abdul Khalek, Sohel, Tanvir and Imdadul Haque while the convict is Zahirul Islam.

The court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain delivered the verdict on Monday.

The case was lodged with Mugda Police Station in November 2013 for subversive acts.

Today the court acquitted 38 accused in the lawsuit after it found them not guilty and convicted a man and awarded him a three-year jail sentence.

The convict was also fined Tk 3,000 and in default, he will have to serve three months more in prison.
