Govt preparing to hold elections by December: Fakhrul

The interim government is preparing to hold national elections by December this year, said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

Speaking to the media on Monday (February 10) after a meeting with Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus at his residence in Jamuna, Fakhrul said the government has assured them of quick election arrangements.

"The Chief Adviser and his team have assured us that they are taking swift measures to hold the elections. They are working to ensure elections take place by December. We hope he will soon announce a roadmap that aligns with the expectations of the people," Fakhrul said.

BNP Delegation’s Meeting with Chief Adviser

Earlier, at 6:00 PM, a three-member BNP delegation led by Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir entered Jamuna for the meeting. The delegation included Standing Committee members Salahuddin Ahmed and Major (retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.

Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed, Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, and Law Adviser Asif Nazrul were also present. The meeting began at 6:20 PM and continued until 7:35 PM.
