Commenting that the government wants to give space to fascists for its own interests, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the people will not accept it if they form a political party by taking all the privileges and facilities from the government.

He made these remarks at a discussion meeting on the distribution of membership forms, renewal of membership, and 'new style of politics after the mass uprising' organised by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal at the Krishibid Institution auditorium in the capital's Farmgate on Wednesday afternoon (February 19).

Mirza Fakhrul, citing the statement of LGRD Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, said, "If the fascists want to participate in the elections by apologising, then they can participate. Can you accept this?" The leaders and activists present at the time replied "no."

The BNP Secretary General added that this has been proven by the words of LGRD Adviser Asif Mahmud, who also wants to make room for the fascists for their own interests.

He noted that doubts have been created among the people about whether this government is sincere about the elections. "If someone abandons democracy and thinks about 1/11 again, the people will not accept it," Fakhrul said.

He welcomed the new party but emphasised that the people would not accept a political party formed with government support. If the interim government cannot remain neutral, a new government will be needed, he argued.

Criticising Advisor Asif Mahmud's statements about holding local elections before national elections, Mirza Fakhrul said that no one would accept such claims.

He also highlighted the significant role of student politics in Bangladesh, saying, "Student politics has created a great, noble, and huge part in the politics of this country. This role that the youth of Bangladesh have embraced will be written in golden letters."

He further noted that global politics is shifting towards the right, and Bangladesh is no exception.

He praised the late President Ziaur Rahman for practicing politics for the common people and expressed confidence in Tarique Rahman's trust in Chhatra Dal. He urged Chhatra Dal leaders and workers to motivate talented individuals to participate and be active on social media.

Among others who spoke at the meeting were Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP convener Aminul Haque, South convener Rafiqul Alam Majnu, Member Secretary Tanvir Ahmed Robin, North Member Secretary Mostafa Zaman, Chhatra Dal Central President Rakibul Islam Rakib, and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir.
