BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has called on the interim government to swiftly complete the minimum necessary reforms for state repair and conduct an election that is acceptable to all.

She made the remarks during the party's extended meeting at the LD Hall of the National Parliament Building on Thursday, joining virtually from London as the chief guest.

Khaleda Zia said, "The country is going through a critical period. Due to your coordinated movement and that of the students, the fascist rulers have been ousted. An interim government has been formed, and the people’s expectation from them is to quickly complete the necessary reforms for state repair and conduct an election that will bring us back to a democratic system, one that is acceptable to all."

She added, "I pay my respects to those who sacrificed their lives in the long struggle against fascism, and to those who became martyrs during the brutal suppression of fascism in July and August. I express my heartfelt condolences to those who were injured. Although I am in the UK for medical treatment, I stand with you always."

Khaleda Zia also said, "For 15 long years, you have fought relentlessly for democracy and my release, with countless leaders and activists losing their lives, being subjected to abductions and torture. Many are still fighting for justice in over 100,000 cases, and you continue to fight for democracy. This sacrifice for democracy will be remembered not only by our party but by the entire nation for generations to come."
